Two shorts that mark the beginning and the current state of Alice Diop’s visionary filmmaking: Les Sénégalaises et la Sénégauloise finds her musing on migration, exile, and fate in her mother’s former home in Senegal, while Fragments for Venus (2025) follows one woman’s visit to the Louvre to see Black lives in art, and another’s visit to Bed-Stuy to witness the art of Black life.
